Walk the red carpet, prom

Since prom is coming up junior Elizabeth Salyer and senior Melanie Bouck try on dresses at David’s Bridal on April 11 in preparation for the Old Hollywood themed prom.

Get the flapper dresses, feathered headpieces, bow ties and suspenders out, juniors and seniors, for your red carpet extravaganza. If you love the old Hollywood vibe, going to this year’s prom is for you. “Old Hollywood just seemed more elegant and is multidimensional. It’s not just a starry night where everything is stars. The ticket price covers the big venue, a popcorn bar, pizza, drinks, a pool table, foosball table, air hockey with a photobooth and professional photos” junior Kaylee Samulak said.

The Old Hollywood themed prom is right around the corner.
“I’m ready for prom through I’m not really dressing with the theme. I just have a regular tux from Men’s Wearhouse that matches my dates dress,” junior Brandon Hamilton said. “I know that I’m driving and everything else will fall into place.”

Many prom-going students aren’t as ready for prom as Hamilton.

“I’m kind of ready for prom. I have my dress, but I haven’t made any appointments yet for my hair or nails and things like that,” junior Shelby Hall said. “My dress doesn’t really fit with the theme. It’s beige and white.”

Tickets for prom go on sale April 24 and can also be bought the 25. May 1, 3, 8 and10 are the last days you can buy one. Cost is $45 and can be bought at all lunches. The date is May 13 in Ann Arbor at the IBEW 252 Event Center. The dance starts at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 11:30 p.m.

“It doesn’t matter to me what the theme is or what I wear,”  junior Elizabeth Salyer said. “I’m going to spend the night dancing with my best friends.”
