The global warming hoax installs panic into the minds of people and lines the pockets of the greedy, corrupt, fear mongering politicians trying to win the votes of America. Popular environmentalists and scientists such as Bill Nye and former presidential candidate Al Gore have made bold claims. Nye has been quoted to say that people who are against the climate change agenda, which is that the Earth is getting hotter, should be jailed in an interview with Marc Morano, who is the owner of Climate Depot’s web site.

In 2006, former politician and current environmentalist Al Gore created a documentary, “An Inconvenient Truth,” analyzing a multitude of scenarios related to the idea that the Earth’s temperature has been rising consistently. The Oscar-winning documentary uses a carefully crafted presentation to explain the research Gore has devoted his life to, as well as many video simulations to invoke the severity of what he is saying.

Gore’s predictions and beliefs include the Pacific Islands being underwater and the sea levels rising up to 20 feet higher, Lake Chad drying up completely due to recent droughts, polar bears becoming extinct, and severe tornadoes becoming more frequent – all in “the near future.” These claims are simply that, claims. Each of his bold predictions have proven to be inaccurate, and it leads one to wonder, was “An Inconvenient Truth” wrongly titled? Was it created with the hope to raise awareness, or as a form of propaganda to induce fear into the minds of the public approaching America’s next presidential election in 2008?

According to the Australian Government’s Bureau of Meteorology, Pacific Island sea levels have remained nearly constant since 1992. These measurements were constant long before “An Inconvenient Truth” was created.

Lake Chad undergoes cycles of rising and falling water levels. The Lake Chad Basin Commission reports on its website that “the beginning of the rainy season in the upper basin gives rise to floods, which fill up Lake Chad before evaporation associated with the end of the flow, leads to a drop in the water level.” This research is revealing that there is never a consistent average in water levels, and on top of that, records from The Lake Chad Basin Commission have reported Lake Chad drying up several times completely before being replenished with water once again.

Related to the issue of water levels, Gore explained that the ice caps near west Antarctica and Greenland would melt soon, which would cause water levels to elevate by 20 feet. This melting would apparently cause the population of polar bears to diminish rapidly and wipe them out. Polar bear populations have actually gone up since 2004. The population was predicted to fall to 676 polar bears, but went up to 1,013 in the ten years following the research conducted by the Canadian Geographic Wildlife.

It was not wrong of Gore to create this film if his intent was to truly raise awareness of Earth going through one of its climate cycles, but he was wrong to make these claims if he had no proof of them happening. He has given his presentation many times since its debut in 2006, and each time the profits for his political movie continue to make their way into his pocket allowing him to become the first ever “carbon billionaire.”` The Earth’s temperatures are going to continue rise and fall, just as they always have, so if someone is looking for factual evidence, then “An Inconvenient Truth” is not the way to go.
