Junior Klara Hays is a standout member of the Stockbridge wrestling team, bringing both skill and friendship to the group. Even with wrestling being a male-dominated sport, Hays continues to inspire girls like herself to join.
“Stay true to yourself and you don’t always wrestle guys, you wrestle girls too. Also, don’t let the guys get to you because they’ll like to bully you,” Hays said.
This advice shows the importance of having self-confidence and resilience in a male-dominated sport. For Klara, the team bond “just feels like she’s a part of the family.”
“It influences my confidence and mental strength by making me step outside my comfort zone,” Hays said. This willingness to work outside her comfort zone leads to great progress.
Hays continues to look forward to the next season, setting goals for herself that embody the determination and spirit that makes her a valuable asset to the Stockbridge wrestling team.
“To keep my head up and keep going strong for the rest of the season,” Hays said.
