The varsity soccer team is 0-4 to start the season, but they are looking to turn around the season. The next game is Thursday, April 18 against Jackson Christian High school at home. Last year, the girls won three games, including one win from a tournament, so they are looking for improvement.
“We may not be better than last year, but we definitely have a better team chemistry this year,” junior Alayna Adkins said.
Despite the losses early in the season, Adkins is hopeful that since the team has a much better connection that that connection starts to translate to more wins as the season goes on.
However, connection or not, there are skills that the girls need to improve.
“We have to work on our passing and conditioning,” senior captain Clarissa Hill said.
What’s more is that they aren’t just missing certain skills, they have a lot of new players. They had to graduate 7 seniors from last year’s team. “Anytime you have a large graduating class you can feel the pressure, but the silver lining is the returners who get to share the love for the game with people who have never played before.”
Coach Ben Kruse said.
Kruse also shows how even though they are young he is grateful for everyone who came out.“ “This year we have been blessed to have a great young group of first time players, and hope we can continue to grow our program,” Kruse said.
