Because of their multiple uses, freshman Samantha Armstrong’s favorite pumpkins are the small ones. One thing that Armstrong would miss about living on the farm is “having a whole field of pumpkins and having all kinds of decorations. You can use them for anything,” she said.

“THE FUTURE BELONGS TO THE MISFITS,” reads this year’s merch for the Find Your Grind Tour. Senior and leadership student Morgan Sipes takes the meaning of this saying to heart.
“I think it means that no matter who we are or where we have came from and what’s happened to us, we can be something great in the future,” Sipes said. “We can go so far with what we’re given.”

Towering. While trick-or-treaters make their rounds, inflatable ghouls scatter around the campground, decorating campsites. A contest is held every year for decorations, and the campsite that is declared the best wins a prize. The winner will be announced Saturday night after the judges have had a chance to assess every campsite.

The beeping of the PA system brings our attention to principle Cooks words that follow. He announces that in the event of a bomb, prison escapee or shooter in the area the school would issue a lockdown drill. He states that, at this time, students are not allowed to leave the classroom and the doors must be locked until the end of the drill is announced. A collective sigh escapes the class as we stare blankly after our teacher as he or she saunters over to the classroom door and locks it without even pausing the lesson to discuss what we would actually do in this sort of situation. We have become numb to drills, making us akin to fish in a barrel.
