The paradoxical notion of taking lives over a life movement #StandWithPP
January 4, 2016
Being pro-life should mean believing in saving all lives, not just the lives of babies. Taking the lives of others because of a life movement is cynical. Disregarding the lives of others over a disagreement that will not be solved with death is sadistic and unethical. These two polar opposite beliefs are never going away so what exactly is being accomplished?
Everyone has opinions. Many of them are contradictory, but that gives no one the right to use violence.
To kill simply because of a disagreement is cruel.
It’s actually more than just cruel.
This type of murder is terrorism. The FBI defines terrorism as “the unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.”
The recent shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado took the lives of three innocent victims through an act of terror. The gunman, Robert L. Dear Jr., mumbled after being arrested, “No more baby parts.” Dear took comfort in thinking that his actions will be forgiven simply because he is a Christian and he is doing God’s work. His ex-wife, Barbara Micheau said, “He says that as long as he believes he will be saved, he can do whatever he pleases.” Dear is doing anything but good in this world if he thinks that it is okay to harm another because of an opposing viewpoint. A belief in doing his God’s work does not consist of killing others for the sake of believing in something that He does not.
Using religion to exempt oneself from feeling bad about intentionally killing someone is terrorism. Just because one thinks that something is bad doesn’t give anyone the excuse to do something exponentially worse than the belief itself. Two wrongs don’t make a right, just like three deaths don’t save a life.
It seems ironic that someone who is standing up in a life movement believes it is okay to take the lives of others who don’t believe the same thing.
