Sophomore Hailey Fisher, sitting in her tree stand since 5 a.m. finally sees the deer she has been waiting for and takes the shot an hour later. “I was very happy,” Fisher said about the second button buck she had gotten in the past three years of hunting.

Students of Stockbridge were up bright and early with layers of camouflage, ready to go to their ground blinds or tree stands and wait for deer. “I got a deer early this year,” sophomore Hailey Fisher said. Hunters, young and old, sat in the cold Michigan weather and waited for their trophy deer to come along, hoping to fill their freezers with meat for the year.
