A memorial service drive took place for fallen Ingham County deputy Grant Whitaker. The drive began at 2 p.m. at Veterans Park in the heart of Stockbridge and followed the chase route that deputy Whitaker drove that early December morning in 2014.

Participants stopped at the crash site where officer Whitaker died in a one-car vehicle accident that morning while in pursuit of John Kelsey who is currently serving a sentence for first-degree fleeing police and driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Whitaker’s service drive traveled through Stockbridge and then went on to Oaklawn Cemetery for a memorial service.

A 2007 graduate of Stockbridge High School, Whitaker was well-known and admired among his peers.
