Uncaged in LA

The first night we arrived in Los Angeles we stayed in Hollywood. We explored the Walk of Fame, which was very underwhelming, and had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, where Daya perfomed one of her new songs “Don’t Let Me Down.”

After our first night in Hollywood, we ventured to our new hotel the Westin Bonaventure, where the convention was being held and thousands of other journalism students were also staying.

Once we were settled in our rooms, we made our way down to the keynote in the California Ballroom at 7:30 Thursday night. Diana Mitsu Klos introduced the keynote speaker Jose Vargas #emerginUS, who spoke of changing the views on immigration in America. During the 3-day convention we attended a special session “Breaking with a pro,” and sessions about branding in multimedia and preparing next years staff.

With our free time we visited the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) and gazed upon pieces created by Jean Frautrier, a French artist, and much more to work on our photography. We also squeezed in a little street reporting.

As we made our journey to the airport to fly back to Michigan, we passed the famous LAX sign. One last sight to see before heading home.
