Over the last two seasons the baseball program has had a very underwhelming nine wins and 42 losses. After last year’s district championship loss to Napoleon, Stockbridge baseball program has made some changes. The baseball program hired in new head coach and former Parma Western assistant coach Chris Goodloe. Players are excited for the upcoming season and looking forward to working with Coach Goodloe. One of those players being senior center fielder Jayden Pilch.
“I’m excited for this season and team,” Pilch said. “I think we will do a lot better this year than last year. I feel good about our new coach. Coach Goodloe has given me tips already that I practiced and have worked out well for me”.
After a tough loss in the district championship, and bringing in a new coach has brought excitement and determination to the players. The baseball program seems to have a good chance at a bright future. One player looking forward to the season is Junior pitcher and left fielder Noah Sandecki.
“I’m excited to see what the future holds for this program and I’m excited to get to know our new coach,” Sandecki said. “We can always improve as a team. Last season we lost in the championship and I feel like we have what it takes to make it happen this year.”
The players aren’t the only ones excited for this season. Coach Goodloe is excited to bring his talents and knowledge to Stockbridge and the baseball team.
“I’m looking forward to building a foundation here at Stockbridge that will lead into a new standard for years to come with our baseball program,” Goodloe said. “I look forward to working with our players and getting to know them as people. I also want to help them develop into seasoned ball players as well as young men headed into society.”
