Last season, the girls varsity soccer team finished the season winless, lacked an athletic conference and lost their coach at the end of the year. However, things appear to be looking up for the battered team as they joined a new athletic league and hired a new, experienced coach.
“I’m excited for this season because we get to be in a conference,” senior goalie Grace Lackey said. “I think Coach Chris will bring a new and different mindset t o the team. It will be a new experience playing under a coach that has game experience.”
By already being the boys varsity soccer coach, Conley brings in a plethora of experience and knowledge. Conley also aims to improve upon mental toughness. One player looking forward to playing under Conley is senior Miley Moser.
“It’s definitely going to be a little different to have a new coach,” Moser said. “I think he is definitely going to bring a lot of strategies and ideas to improve us as players”.
With a unique experience of soccer and a wide variety of tips and tricks, Conley is prepared and ready for this task on hand.
“My goals are to establish a consistent process and continue building a winning culture. While teaching the game and competing are important, success extends beyond wins and losses,” Conley said. “I want our players to develop a strong sense of pride as Stockbridge athletes. Our school is the heart of this town, I want them to recognize that and represent our community well”.
