City Rescue Mission is an organization located in Lansing, Michigan to help those in need. They care for a wide range of people including alcoholics, drug addicts and those who are homeless.
The organization includes a women and children’s shelter, a men’s shelter, a food bank, an outreach, and a thrift store.
City Rescue Mission is a non profit organization focused on providing two meals a day, clothes to wear, somewhere to bathe, beds to sleep in, and counseling through the Bible for people in their shelters. They hope to offer all of these services through the salvation of Jesus Christ.
Wright leads the City Rescue Mission through pointing people to religion and praying for the cause.
“We need the prayer, and the community that we serve definitely needs that prayer as well,” Wright said.
City Rescue Mission takes volunteers of any age at any time, but people under the age of 18 are required to have a chaperone. The volunteer work includes sorting clothes, tagging clothes, and restocking the shelves at the thrift store. Volunteer opportunities are also available at the outreach, shelters, and food bank.
Mission leader Dave Wright understands that not everyone has the time to volunteer, but he explains that donating anything extra is just as important and helpful.
