After former varsity boys head coach Jacob Robidou stepped down, the team needed a new coach with experience, vigor, and passion, and they found it in former Webbervile Nate Lott. With his short time being here, he has worked to show his team that he deserves to be their head coach.
“In the little amount of time that Coach Lott has been here, he has shown me how much he cares for the players and the program,” senior varsity center Shannon Henderson said. “Coach Lott is good at making sure I’m getting in the gym and offering open gym to me to get shots up and it has really helped improve my game.”
After falling short in the district championship last year, one goal for the players is to bring home that title. The Panthers lost to a very good Laingsburg team last year by nine, ending their season. Despite the loss, the Panthers are looking for revenge and want to bring home the title this season.
“My goal for this season is to win districts and advance further into the playoffs. We have to play as a team instead of relying on one or two guys,” senior varsity point guard Jacob Dalton said.
The second Coach Lott heard the head coaching job was available, he was interested and ready to get to work. Coach Lott has high hopes for this team and believes he can build this program up and make it an elite program.
“Once I heard the Stockbridge job was open I told my family I was going to put in for it because I believed if I got the job, it would be a perfect fit for me. No matter if it’s the most talented player or the last guy on the bench, Stockbridge kids will run through a wall for you, especially if they believe in the coach and teammates,” Coach Lott said.
Although this team has high hopes for this season, it will eventually have to come to an end. Senior wing Zac Rogozinski foresees what he’s going to miss most about playing with this team.
“I’m looking forward to playing this season with my teammates since my season got cut short last year. I’m really gonna miss playing with my buddies for the last time,” Rogozinki said.
