David Jones has replaced Charles Bunce as the new Biology and Environmental Science teacher. He previously taught for 26 years at Grand Ledge High school as a Biology and Environmental Science teacher.
Jones comes to Stockbridge to interact with both the student body and the faculty, but overall is looking forward to creating a positive environment in his classroom for students.
“I’m excited to work with everyone and engage with the faculty and students in ways that will impact their lives,” Jones said.
Jones decided on the switch from Grand Ledge to Stockbridge due to the very long drive.
“I live in Pinckney, and I was driving from Pinckney to Grand Ledge for over 20 years, which ends up being about an hour there and an hour back. So, 500 miles a week, I just did not want to do that anymore,” Jones said.
Now, Jones travels only about 20 minutes to Stockbridge High School, which, to him was the perfect switch, only driving 40 minutes a day in total rather than 2 hours.
Originally, Jones was given the opportunity to retire from teaching at Grand Ledge High School, but explained he did not want to quit giving kids the opportunity to keep learning, so he made the change and applied to Stockbridge High School.
Overall, Jones is very excited to make an impact on many students at Stockbridge.
“I’m most excited about just getting to know everybody and to try and be a positive influence, and to have fun with it,” Jones said.
