Junior Takes Home 3rd Place at The Jostens Photography Contest

Jazmine Hawkins, a two year member of the yearbook staff, submitted a photo she had taken of Principle Jeff Trapp helping students dissect pigs to the Jostens Photography Fest. Her photo was entered in as a “Academics & Community Service” category. After competing against over five thousand other teens around the country, Hawkins placed 3rd.

Her work will be displayed at an art gallery on October 5-7, in New York City to be apart of the All-American High School Film Festival Photog Fest. Not only is her work getting shown off, she also will receive photography accessories from Wolfe’s Camera.

Hawkins’s photo will be featured in the academic section of the 2018 yearbook according to her adviser, Elizabeth Cyr who said that her fellow editors encouraged her to submit to the contest. “Jazmine’s instincts are spot on,” Cyr said. “She has a strong sense of storytelling in her photography that comes across vividly. We are lucky to have her on staff as assistant editor.”
