PHOTO PATRICK COX  The world is going through a “La Niña,” the positive phase of the El Niño–Southern Oscillation, which is irregular variation in winds and sea surface temperatures in the tropical eastern Pacific Ocean, according to The Weather Channel. It has lead to many winter storms, causing flight cancellations and many car pileups on highways. States like Florida and South Carolina are getting unusual snowfall, breaking multiple records, while New England and Vermont experienced temperatures that felt like -20 F to -30 F.
