Working extra diligently during the busy holiday season, Stockbridge Community Outreach program director Karen Smith and volunteer Penny Kunzelman organize donations and attempt to provide much needed support and holiday cheer to families in need.

Stockbridge Community Outreach provides support for the local families every year, but this year around 20 families currently haven’t been adopted for the holiday season.

“I can tell you we have about 82 families signed up so far for the program, and I would guess at least 20 of them are still available,” said Karen Smith, the program director.

Outreach is currently having trouble finding people to adopt the last of the families, but Smith mentioned that any family not adopted would be adopted by outreach. However, there isn’t an issue with gathering donations.

“We get donations almost every day. Well, we do get them every day,” Smith said.

She appreciates all of the support.

“Most of our support comes from the community. We don’t get any support from the state,” Smith said. “Thank you to the community for supporting us so much through the years. The need is great, and we so appreciate their donations.”
